Welcome to the Asian Chamber of Commerce home page. We hope to make this site a tool for the Asian community in Houston and around the world. Please bookmark and come back frequently as we will have frequent up dates.

1. What is the Asian Chamber of Commerce?

The Chamber has the dual purpose of promoting trade between Houston and Asia and to foster economic development in the Houston area Asian-American communities. The Chamber was incorporated on June 20, 1990 as a Texas non-profit corporation and has been qualified as a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c) (6) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

2. What are the Chamber's activities and services?

To present speakers on topics related to Asia and the Asian-American
community at regular meetings, seminars, and presentations.

To provide networking opportunities through regular activities such as
meetings, seminars and luncheons. Receptions are held for leaders of government, business, and the community. The Chamber participates in trade shows and trade missions. A membership directory is provided to all members.

To develop business leads for members. The Chamber receives information
and notices which it disseminates to its members. The Chamber thus helps individuals and companies in Houston and in Asia seeking or offering trade opportunities.

3. Who are the members of the Chamber?

The membership of the Chamber consists of both individuals and companies (Asian and non-Asian) that are involved or interested in doing business with Houston's Asian-American communities or trade between Houston and Asian countries, as well as those who service such trade. Companies who are members are automatically allowed three individual representative members in the Chamber, although they may add additional representative members at reduced fees. The chamber also counts among its members representatives of local and federal government bodies as well as of consulates and other representative offices of Asian countries.

4. Can members deduct dues paid to the Chamber?

Dues paid to the Chamber may not be deducted as charitable contributions on the member's federal income tax return. However, the dues may be deductible as trade or business expenses if they are ordinary and necessary in the conduct of the members business.
