Waynette Chan.  Ms. Chan assists the Mayor in the management of Houston; she develops, advises on, and implements policy. Additionally, Ms. Chan participates in the preparation of Houston’s budget, guides and monitors city services, and advises on items for the council agenda.

 

She has direct oversight of 10 departments: Health and Human Services, Houston Fire Department, Houston Police Department, Houston Public Library, the Mayor’s Office, the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, Parks and Recreation, Public Works and Engineering, and Solid Waste Management. These departments have over 19,000 full time equivalent employees and are allocated over $2.8 billion of the $4.1 billion City of Houston budget.
